Behind The Bunnies And Chocolate;

What does Easter really mean?

It might be a little late addressing this question, but better late than never. I feel like sharing my thoughts on this, particularly, because it made me realize something that encouraged me to move forward no matter what the circumstance.

The meaning of Easter often gets drowned in the hoo-ha of the holidays, chocolate eggs and Sunday church services. As Christians, I'm sure some of us, myself included, really did just let Easter pass us by like any other weekend. Even with CF inviting Pastor Sandra to talk to us about a short Easter message in CF and an extremely enlightening sermon in church about how Jesus' crucifixion, burial and death ties up to our salvation, sometimes the essence of Easter just wouldn't sink in. At least, that was how I felt.

However, an important reminder on why Easter matters so much: because Jesus died and rose again right. Why? "He did it so that the world can have hope", is what Pastor Sandra mentioned. She spoke about running the race, and finishing well at the finish line. We always start off enthusiastically, but not many reach the finish line with achievement.

For myself, I've constantly fallen, gone off that track and stopped for breathers multiple times. But the thing is, "It's okay. Just get up, and keep going. Because God will pick you up and put you back on the right track again."

I believe in that with all my heart.

I'm forgiven, because you were forsaken.
I'm accepted, you were condemned.
I'm alive and well, your spirit lives within me,
Because you died and rose again.

Amazing love, how can this be?
That you my King would die for me
Amazing love, I know it's true
It is my joy to honour you,
In all I do, I honour you.
