Baptism Sunday

Welcome to the church of the Holy Cabbage;
Lettuce pray.

Hahahahaha, it's hilarious!

Back to the point, last weekend was baptism weekend. I'm glad I went to church because I hadn't attended a baptism service in Bridge Church before - I always miss it, likewise for Super Sundays. They conducted the service a little differently from how DUMC does it. There were only 4-5 people baptized each service, and each of them told their personal stories about how they came to know and love Jesus, and why they were getting baptized. They probably beforehand but none of them were reading their testimonies from papers in their hands; whatever was said was simply a familiar story being told.

Maybe I didn't pay much attention during baptism services in DUMC, maybe because many people were baptized at once. But yesterday I was challenged to think of what my baptism meant to me since I've not actually thought about it before. It was simply just 'an outward act to say that I believe in Jesus' - which is true, but it's a textbook answer. I guess it's time to take 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" to the next level;

"... and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience before God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ..."
--1 Peter 3:21

Ah, baptism :)
