Oily & Greasy: Char Kuey Teow @ Gurney Drive

That day, YY and I were walking home after handing in The Legendary Assignment. Ah, it was a walk of much relief. Just then, the sudden craving for Char Kuey Teow kicked in as we had a short chat about dinner.

"You know what I would like, char. kuey. teow. The spicy, oily kind!"

Melbournians, if you don't already know about this awesome Malaysian restaurant that serves really good, if not the best, Char Kuey Teow in the CBD, now you know!

With enough 'si ham', chilli and tauge, the Char Kuey Teow at Gurney Drive is authentic as it gets here in the CBD - as suggested by the seasoned Malaysians. The only thing missing is it being served on a small pink plastic plate on a banana leaf. Then again, banana leaves are quite rare around here, so it's excusable.

A few of their other dishes are worth trying too, like their Loh Shi Fun and Fish Head Noodles. If you want to try something else, look around at what the other tables are eating or what's being served up. It's so exciting! :D Ah, Char Kuey Teow. How I wish you were RM3.50. The price is pretty good though, it cost $8.50 - which is considered to be relatively cheap.
