Feel... happy? Feel... surprised? Feel... privileged? Feel... dissatisfied? Feel... fat? (I already have a picture of this, btw: click!) Feel... loved?
Oh, I know!
Taipan Pork Mee
It makes me feel Chinese, hungry, like I'm at home, loved and appreciated by the people whom I enjoy this with, reminiscent, happy and excited, but most of all, thankful for the blessing that is being able to enjoy food.
If I've not approached you yet, I shall share with you now that there are many people who don't have access to luxurious food like this. Many children are malnourished and diseased because they simply don't get enough food. For this reason, World Vision Australia has organized the 40-hour Famine to raise awareness of this occurrence amongst today's generation of future leaders. Participants go on a 40-hour strike on a basic necessity (e.g. food) and source donations towards this cause. The donations are channeled to villages in the East Timor Islands, Indonesia, where food and other basic needs will be provided to the people.
So please, join the 40-hour Famine to feel what it's like to go without food for just under two days. Fast solid foods, technology, basic amenities, or clothing if you like (but please fast wisely). If you'd rather not, fret not! You still can contribute by donating to the Famine fund. Australian readers, click here for my profile and follow the instructions: click to donate! Malaysian readers, find out more about the 30-hour Famine event happening at Monash University at their event page: click to join!
Every $1 YOU give can make a difference in the life of one child. Go for it!
